ScreenBee — Privacy Policy

      In short: your recordings never leave your computer. ScreenBee runs no servers, no analytics,
      and collects no personal data whatsoever — no name, no email, no account. It keeps track of how many
      minutes you have recorded today so it can apply the free plan's limit, and if you buy PRO it stores your
      licence key. Both live on your own machine.
    

1. What ScreenBee stores, and where

About Chrome Sync: anything written to chrome.storage.sync is synchronised by Google across Chrome profiles you are signed into. That is a Chrome feature; ScreenBee has no access to Google's copy.

2. Network connections

ScreenBee makes exactly one kind of outbound request, and only if you buy PRO:

When you activate a PRO licence key, and when it is re-checked afterwards, the key is sent to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com) to confirm it is still valid. Re-checking happens at most once every three days. Nothing else is sent — not your name, not your email, not anything about what you record.

If you never buy PRO, ScreenBee makes no network requests at all. There is no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or tracking script, and no remotely hosted font or code. Your recordings are never transmitted.

3. Browser permissions and why each is needed

tabCapture — captures video and audio of the browser tab you chose to record.
Screen sharing (Full Screen mode) — uses the browser's own getDisplayMedia picker, which needs no extension permission at all. Chrome controls the picker and your consent; ScreenBee only receives the stream you approved.
activeTab + scripting — draws the countdown, the floating control bar and the webcam bubble on the page being recorded.
Camera & microphone (requested by the browser at the moment of use) — captures your webcam bubble and narration. Streams are processed in memory and released as soon as recording ends.
offscreen — runs MediaRecorder in a hidden document, as Manifest V3 requires.
storage — saves the preferences, the free-plan usage counter and, for PRO users, the licence key listed in section 1.
downloads — writes the finished .webm (or .mp4) file to your Downloads folder.
Access to all websites (optional, off by default) — you may grant this so the control bar survives when you navigate to another page mid-recording. ScreenBee never reads or transmits page content, and if you decline, recording still works normally.

4. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade or share user data with third parties. Apart from sending a licence key to Lemon Squeezy to verify a PRO purchase, no data leaves your computer at all.

5. Retention and deletion

Recording data is discarded from memory once the file is written. The free-plan usage counter resets by itself every day. To erase everything else, remove the extension at chrome://extensions, or use "Deactivate on this device" in the PRO panel to delete the stored licence key. Uninstalling clears everything ScreenBee stored on your device.

6. Children's privacy

ScreenBee is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data — in fact we collect no personal data from any user, of any age.

7. Changes to this policy

Material changes will be published here with a new date and version number before they take effect.
